I have a Bryant Plus 90 350MAV furnace that is about 7-8 years old. Recently it began to make a rattling noise that starts about 3-4 seconds AFTER the motor kicks in, and stops immediately when I turn it off (even though the squirrel cage is still turning / freewheeling). I took out the housing containing the motor and squirrel cage, and it runs quietly by itself outside of the furnace. However, once I put the housing back into the furnace, the rattling starts again. I don't see any obvious problems with the baffles on the heat exchanger. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Did you check both the induced draft motor and the blower motor?

No. I only checked the blower motor. Where is the induced draft motor? And, may I ask, why would it make noise only when the housing/squirrel cage/blower motor are running inside the furnace but not when the housing is running outside the furnace?

Thanks.
