I have a 4 Ton Luxaire heatpump (scroll compressor). While in the attic cleaning the A-coil I found a lot of light oil on the refrigerant lines.
It seems certain that I have a leak.... but isn't the oil supposed to stay in the compressor?

BINGO...Where there's smoke there's fire.
Unless that oil residue looks like its been there for awhile (dirty). I would do a leak test with either bubbles or an electronic leak detector. Don't try brazing the suspect area with refrigerant in the system. Call a pro.
