Hi, Does anyone knows how or what needs to be done in order to use heatpump (one unit) to cool two sepparate areas. I need to be able cool main floor and basement with two different temperature settings.(I assume with two thermostats) How efficiant is that way of doing it?

You need a motorized damper system. Carrier makes some nice options.
The comfort zone allows you to adiust zone 1 and zone 2 programs from the same stat. It has an optional smart sensor for zone 2 to allow adjusting setpoint locally.
The Carrier Weathermaker give you the freedom to use almost any stat. Temperature adjustment would need to be at each zone. (Now available in 3 zone boards)
"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.
