I have a Carrier Weathermaker two zone system.(heat pump) I replaced the downstairs stock thermostat with a ritetemp 6036 thermostat. When I turned the A/C system back on, the air blows from vents but the compressor does not come on. It does the same in heat mode also. The upstairs thermostat still works fine(compressor comes on, blows cold air.) I swithched back to the stock thermostat and it does the same now. Did I trip a fuse on the air handler?? Any help before I call a HVAC guy would be greatly appreciated!!

No it is not a fuse in the air handler. Did you install a heat pump thermostat? Did you install a thermostat that can be used for a heatpump or a regular heat cool. You might have to program the thermostat. Another possible problem is what type of zoning system do you have? Some systems ie: heat pumps, will have a heat/cool thermostat and the zone board is configured to operate in this set up.
