Have Trane 1.5 ton water source heat pump. I currently have water leaking out of an insertion tube that a capillary style thermo limit switch is pushed up inside of that senses the exiting water temp. I slid 10" of straight capillary out of the tube to remove. No damage evident. Don't see how reinserting without some sealant or pressing in a rubber stopper would ever seal from leakage. The insertion tube must lead directly into the discharge water pipeline. How should this be sealed from leaking?

Thanks for your help

Usually it is called a "thermo-well" and has heat conducting graphite grease in it to make the capillary work accurately. If it is leaking then it needs replacing B4 it bursts or gets a LOT worse.
