I'm replacing a thermostat with the subject thermostat however the old unit has a white wire that I can't map to the Honeywell unit. My AC/Heat Pump is a goodman with aux heat. Any Idea where the white wire goes. Also, are there any settings on the Honeywell that I need to set.
Thanks

Thanks Mike Perrotto

I forgot to mention that the old GE Thermostat has the following wires connected.
Yellow to Yellow, Red to Red, Green to Green and White to White (however there is not white terminal on the Honeywell TH3210D1004.
Thanks

Product Application
This thermostat provides electronic control of 24 VAC heat pump systems with auxiliary
heat (2 heat/1 cool).

If you are only using 4 conductors, you do not have a heatpump and need a different stat.

Color codes vary, use your old color/terminal combination not this example.

We checked the unit outside and it is a Goodman CKL 36-10.

That does not appear to be a heatpump.

You're right this is not a heat pump. The Goodman unit is for Air,conditioning and there is an electric furnace (or heat coils) inside the air handler unit. Based on a process of elimination, I assume the White wire, coupled with the Red (power) wire, activates some relay that turns on the electric furnace when the Thermostat is on the heat setting/mode. The other wires activate the blower and the AC unit.

R = 24 volt power
G = fan
W = heat
Y = compressor

A heatpump stat will energize Y on demand for heat and cool.
You need a different stat.

A Honeywell RTH6300 is a good choice.

I use a Honeywell Visionpro touchscreen stat.

Houston204,

Thanks for your response.
You've bailed me out of several HVAC situations before and I respect your opinion.

This is a heat pump installation in my Daughters double wide mobile home. Tomorrow when it’s light out, we’ll get the exact model of the heat pump and post a reply here.

In the mean time, I hooked up the Honeywell TH3210D1004 thermostat as follows:
Yellow to Yellow
Red to Red
Green to Green
White to Aux

The Air Conditioner has worked well all day; however I haven’t had a chance to check if it works in heat mode.

I’ll get back to you with the heat pump’s model number.
Thanks

Thanks Mike Perrotto
