I have a Carrier 50JS Heat pump unit which looks like it got hit by lightning. Whatever it was, it visibly damaged the heat strip. When I disconnected the heat strip and ran the unit, the motor fan and blower came on, but only would stay on for a few minutes.
I replaced the defrost control board and blower control relay and now the fan stays on, but the blower doesn't come on at all.
I tripled check the connections and everything looks exactly how it was.
My question is, if the blower came on with the bad board why doesn't the blower come on now? Also, how can you get this system to work without the heat strip connected?

I switched the circuit board from the old to the new blower control. It works now like it should. Thanks everyone for all your helpful advice. I couldn't have done it without you.
