I have a Goodman split system heat pump currently controled by the carrier (honeywell?) Thermo Q674L 1454 On the Q 674 here is the wireing. O - orange W2 - White C - Blue L - not used Y - yellow E - Brown G - green R - red On the T8611G 2028 according to the manual, here are the choices C - I assume blue Y1 - I assume yellow G - I assume green O/B - I assume orange E - I assume Brown W2 - I assume White W1 - leave unconnected? R - I assume red X1 - The instructions sem to show this jumpered to "C" is this correct? X2, L, OT, and OT I assume all left unconnected?
Is the above correct? any other comments or installer set up functions that should be changed from defaults?
EDIT: I see Y1 and W1 are jumped as the thermo came out of the box. Is that correct? If so then my above assumptions are incorrect. help please
Thank you, Dave

I agree with your new wiring.
C = blue Y1 = yellow G = green O/B = orange E = brown W2 = white R = red
X1 does appear to jumper to C
The O/B terminal comes factory configured to O so that shouldn't need adjusting.

Thank you, It seemed simple enough but I wanted to be sure BEFORE I installed. I try to trouble shoot before I get in trouble. I guess most of the unused terminals on the new unit are for "mode" lights or features I don't have such as outdoor thermos etc.
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer a newbie question

After wiring in your new stat, verify that the compressor starts with cooling and heating demand.
I just want to be sure that a jumper between Y1 and W1 is not required.
If it is not required I will remove it from this diagram.

Thank you, I'll have to double check later. I installed and stupidly checked emergency heat before standard heat. The compressor did run on standard heat after I installed the jumper. but I didn't check before jumpre because the display read "Aux heat" so I put the jumper on but it did the same thing. I then checked the compressor and it was runing. I will need to remove the jumper and test again. and see if compressor is running even with it saying AUX heat. I couldn't then smell the dust on the heat strips because I had already tested that and wasn't sure. will wait until cooler and test again.. It should NOT say AUX heat if just running the heat pump correct?

AUX heat is stage 2 heat, so if you have a heating demand greater than 2 degrees both should run.
