I have three compressors on an elevated platform (flood zone). They are SEER 10, 11, 11. Pretty tight at 10'x3'. I am upgrading to 16 SEER units which of course are much larger. Think I will have to make a larger platform as I want to provide at least a little space for the techs to get around each unit. And I am sure good airflow is important. How much room is recommended between the house and the units; between the compressors themselves. How big should the platform be?
Thanks

In the installation guide for the new condensing units it should give you a diagram. There are several different recommendations depending on how ou stagger them.

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

I would keep them at least 1 ft from the wall, 1 ft apart and allow at least 3 ft for a wide a*s tech to be able to service them. If you go with Lennox units XC series they have removeable grills and need more room, look at the install specs for that info. The air is sucked upwards so they should not fight each other. Let us know what brand and model you are interested and some of the guys may have access to that info. I can get Lennox private access/engineering info.
