I had a contractor visit my site and suggested that my existing 3.5 ton compressor/condenser could be used with two furnaces. Would this be possible? A new unit (~40kBtu) would be on the 1st floor, the other existing unit (~80kBtu) in the attic above the 2nd floor. Would this be done with parallel refrigerant lines or a series like single refrigerant line? If series, refrigerant to the smaller unit first... right?
Comments/suggestions/questions.
I can add a link to my plans and/or add more detail about my current config (hvac and floor plan) and my desired/future floor plan and you (the pros) can suggest hvac solutions.
Thanks
Clay

The link would help. There are some significant, inhariant problems that must be resolved, or at best you will be without A/C, at worst you will ruin the compressor. Most customers will opt for indipendent units, might cost a little more, but there is a high level of sucess in getting what you want and paid for.
