Hi Im new here. Have a questions, don't know anyone with experience in this.

Question is what brand of equiptment are a great value? I want to do a horizontal loop system , my wife's cousin had a company do it for $25,000 WITH labor, how did he do this job so cheap? I want to do the same in my house,Im on 6 acres and have a HUGE propane bill. We built the house a year ago but I forgot to put in the contract that I get to do the hvac system, so now I have to redo it all. It has a commercial rooftop mounted on the ground , a Trane unit so we have all ductwork complete. If you guys can post a ballpark price on what I'd need for a 5 bedroom, 3 bath, 2,500 sq ft. the bottom floor is garden level. I'm just trying to get a ballpark on what it would cost me to put a system like this in, I'm probably spending $4,000 a winter in propane, I have only found one place selling equiptment and you have to drill 100 ft so it's going to cost more $.

Geothermal is not the "end all, be all" answer for every home. It's phenomenal in some applications, and not at all worthwile in others.
Hiring a cheap geothermal contractor will get a CHEAP system, not a good one. It's expensive to do it right, so a cheap bid will usually mean you'll never see any savings.
Some of the systems I've seen are horrible. There are guys undercutting my (admittedly somewhat high) prices and installing 200' of tubing per ton 5 feet under ground. Those customers will NEVER see any savings. They'd have been better off with a hybrid gas/air source heat pump for less than half the money....

Depends on where you are, horizontal loops, are fine, but why not drill vertical loops .

225-250ft
1 per ton of a/c-heat

Cost usally runs about 1000.00 -1500.00 per hole which is warrantied for 50 years against leaks.

Now your indoor unit would be about 4k-5k depending on if your get de-superheater to heat DHW for your home too.

First, you need to let us know what state, and nearest community you live near. The difference in prices can vary greatly from state to state, town to town. Most equipmet today is fairly reliable. The question is; how available are replacement parts, and do I have a local Service company who can service my equipment, er, geo-therm equipment.
You don't necessarily have to go geotherm. there are cheaper alternatitives, ie. heat pump or nat. gas. It would take a great deal of time to recoup 40 grand in savings on switching from propane.
