Installing a new goodman unit, upflow application, the base heater has a angle of cabinet metal bent up about 1 inch with a few drilled holes in it, and will not allow the coil to rest on top flush, or make any kind of seal. The coil has 2 plates along the bottom mateing side to inhibite the coil from fully seating atop the heater as it rests on the rail of 1 inch bent up cabinet metal. Is there a kit tdesigned to couple these together that I did not get, or do I bend down the metal rail on top of heater, to allow coil to rest squarely on top of heater, and seal with silicone before placing the two together? I didn't want to remove the plates on bottom sides of coil as they are insulated and probably serve as a protective measure to the coil? Any help greatly appriciated, Thanks!

Yeah, go ahead and bend those 1 inch flanges down that are on the furnace. As for the comment about carbon monoxide...as long as your heat exchanger and venting is in good shape, you shouldn't have to worry about it.

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Better get someone who knows what there doing , before you ruin a coil and furnace. Or just cut it to pieces and get carbon monoxide inside your house and kill everyone.
