Hey Fellas. I'm on call this weekend and recieved a call from a customer who wanted a second opinion. She had another compny service tech come out to troubleshoot her high efficiency Trane furnace. He found that the pressure switch tubes were filled with water. He sucked the water out and the unit fired up fine. He said he couldn't figure out why they filled with water and he recommended he call a company that installs Tranes. So, she called the company I work for.

This is what I'm thinking...let me know what you think.
1) Blocked main drain. NO water leaving the furnace.
2) Something up with the exhaust? Too much pitch? Too cool?
3) Crack in heat exchanger...causing water to build up in secondary heat exchanger?

I didn't go out to her house because I scared her with our overtime rates. I want to be prepared for monday when I go out there.

Thanks so much guys!

If it ain't broke don't fix it!

I would say that it would be drain line issue with trap location.

But, I'm not there, you are so check every item you listed it will give you a better idea of what going on.

vent pipe
drains
hx exchanger/blockage
temp rise >?

If new install, check the position of the trap. There are different positions for monnting the trap if the furnace is installed verticle or horizontal. If not, others may have input.

I contacted York about a similar problem last year. They said to look for a partially blocked drain. It could be a trap, tube or the main drain.
