I'm about to have a new AC unit hooked up to my house. It's a 3 1/2 ton 14 sear R410 Rheem. The contractor said it should use a 1 1/8 copper line. Mine is 7/8. Now he's saying the 7/8 will be fine. Any adivce on what it should be?

7/8 3/8 will be fine............u dont need 1 1/8 until u get to 5 ton, and even then on a short run 7/8 will work.

12 ft. of copper manufactures state line set min.15ft or flood back can be present.
I would add to line set, 7/8" is fine.
