I recently installed a P474-1035 programmable thermostat and have problems with it keeping the programmed "set temp".

For example, I will have the "night" mode set for a temp. of 65F. When the furnace kicks on, it will reach the programmed 65 degrees, and the room temp where the thermostat is located may reach 66 or 67 and the furnace will shut off. This is fine until I realized that the "programmed" temp will actually adjust itself to the temp of the room. As a result, the furnace gets into a cycle and keeps running to reach the adjusted programmed temp.

I thought it was a bad thermostat until I repaced it with an identical one, and it did the same thing.

I've had these thermostats before (in other homes) and am familiar with the operation and did not have this problem before.

Any thoughs on what could cause the programmed temp to adust itself? Could it be wired wrong somehow or just a bad unit?

Thanks!

Thanks for your input. Looks like I should find another brand!

Hi,
I tried one of those and it was made in China, poorly made.
Actually I took it apart to take a look inside.
Had same issues like you are experiencing. Only thermostat now
I use is Honeywell. Vision Pro 8000 series I have keeps precise
temp.(One at my condo downtown, one at cabin, and at home I use
Honeywell wireless thermostat)
