The new coleman evcon dgaa070 has 2 blk and 2 wht wires coming out of the control panel, one set to the switch and one to the panel itself. I tied into both and I am certain that I fried the control panel, should I have just tied to the switch? Now what?

Wow! Instead of looking at the wiring diagram you've decided to randomly and arbitrarily connect wires together and hope for success. I recommend taking a peek at the provided diagram and wiring it as specified. Then restore power and use a meter to determine what's been fried. If you're lucky it's just miswired. If you saw smoke then you will be unlucky.
