My furnace exhaust blower starts, the ignigter starts to glow, then the fire kicks in for about 5 secs, then the fire shuts down, and the igniter starts agian. This goes on a few times an then it continues to run.

It seems your flame sensing circuit is not acting reliably. There should be a metal probe the sticks into where there is flame from the burner and connects to the furnace control box... usually a single wire. Make sure that flame probe tip is clean (use steel wool or emery cloth). Also be sure all wire connections are secure. Turn off power when doing work.
