Hello guys... got a question for you about seer ratings. I'll admit up front that this question comes after the horse is out of the barn. I just recently replaced 2 heat pump systems in my home and both seem to be working just great. Both are 18 seer units. Earlier tonight I was reading that some manufacturers offer units with seer ratings in the low to mid 20's. Obviously I'm not swapping out 2 new heat pumps that are only 1 month old just to upgrade from 18 seer, but my question is " did I short change myself by not going with higher seer units? Given the fact that electric costs are only going to continue to rise, and the fact that I hope to get at least 15 or more years of service from these heat pumps, do you think it would have been smarter to shell out the extra cash for higher seer units or do you think 18 seer is sufficient. Like I said, just had these 18 seer units installed only a month ago and for what they cost me, they're not going anywhere... Just curious if I made the right decision. I appreciate your input.
