I'm considering two bids for replacing my furnace and AC unit. Both came in at 4300, give or take $10. Assuming I have a good amount of confidence in both installers, which is the better system for the price and warranty, Goodman or Heil? Home and system tats below.

Home:
1295 sqft Ranch on a crawlspace (furnace in crawl)

Heil:
-3 ton 14 SEER top of the line air conditioner (DX1400), uses 410A refrigerant, set on new pad and replace electrical whip
-75,000 Btu 80% efficient top of the line 2 stage furnace (VS 80), variable speed dc blower
-New refrigerant lines and evaporator coil
-5 year parts warranty
-1 year labor warranty
-5 year workmanship warranty (not sure what that qualifies as)

Goodman:
- 2.5 Ton A/C 14 SEER
- 70,000 BTU 90% furnace
- 10 year parts warranty
- 5 year labor warranty

Thanks all.

Need to have full model numbers of furnaces, air conditioners, and coils in order to give a good answer. They should be on the quotations.

Whey the difference (1/2 ton) in a/c sizing? This could make a significant difference in your comfort. The heating sizes are close enough (if correct).

Was a heat calc done? Did you see it (them)?

I did not see either do a heat calc. Both wrote up their quotes after leaving. It's possible that they did them later, I guess. Maybe not. The information I included is all the information I have--no exact model numbers.

Thanks for your interest.

As far as efficiency goes, and knowing as little as we know, which unit would cost less to operate in your opinion, the 80%, 2 stage, variable speed Heil, or the 90% Goodman? (I don't know anything else but efficiency about the Goodman--stages and speeds and whatnot)?

Thanks
