You say you have a furnace. A furnace usually refers to a heating system that heats air. Is your furnace possibly a boiler and you have hot water baseboard heat?

If it is a boiler there is an aquastat that regulates the boiler water temperature. Your coil for domestic hot water sits inside the boiler and is heated by the boiler water. If you increase the aquastat temperature, the boiler water temperature and your domestic hot water temperatere will also increase.

Is this a new problem? Was the hot water okay until a week or so ago? See if there is a temper valve connected to the hotwater outflow pipes. Possibly it needs adjusting, if present.
