burner fires and runs for 5 min. the blower starts shortly after the burner. Blower continues to run long after the burner has quit until its blowing cold air. Then shuts off. Burner fires again in a few min and kicks off again in 5 min.Sometimes before the fan has shut off from the last cycle. Seems that the burner should be running longer and less frequently, any suggestions or adjustments I can try?

Sounds like your thermostat is short cycling. If it is an older or cheap electronic type replace it with a good Honeywell Vision or Focus pro type. Check your air filters and vents. Make sure they are all clean and open. It may be cycling on the limit control.

Check the heat anticipator setting on the thermostat. Note its position (mark it with a pencil) Then slide the slider (I'm assuming) back and forth over that mark. Now return the pointer to its original location.

Has anyone had reason to open and adjust your thermostat?
