Hi. I'm new to the forum and would appreciate any help. I have a Heil Ultimate 2 gas furnace. There is a vacuum diafram with small hose that runs to a fan that looks like it exhausts somewhere. Sometimes the fan runs however the burner does not ignite. If i pull the small hose off the fan and blow in it and then reconnect it the burner will light. It may work good for two- three weeks before it does it again. Do you think it is the vacuum diafram or the fan? Thanks for any assistance. Its starting to get cold at night up north.

If you blew or sucked on the diaphram you ruined it. It is a very sensitive negative pressure switch and needs suction. Get it replaced by a qualified tech and have him check the draft to it with a manometer.

The furnace still operates very well except for the occasional time it will not start the burner until I blow in to this hose and then replace hose. Any other suggestions Thanks

If you can blow GENTLY and get the furnace to fire then it would seem the pressure sensor MAY be okay and the small inducer fan the problem OR there could be some obstruction in your flue. Thoroughly inspect the flue for any debris like a bird's nest or bee/wasp nests. If all seems clear then I would remove the inducer motor and examine the motor and small blower wheel (squirrel cage), Look for signs of dust/dirt in the squirrel cage and check the motor for loose/bad bearings. If that looks good you may have a damaged pressure sensor that only works when you add your lung power to the equation.

Thank you very much for your reply. I think what you said makes a lot of sense with my problem. I will check out the flue and wait to see if it quits again. It has been working fine since my original inquiry. Stay well
