i have a tappan emf-74-41-42 heat pump and the blower motor continues to run even after thermostat is disconnected from the wall. what could the most probable cause.

If the blower fan you are referring to is the blower that circulates air inside your house and it continues to run after the thermostat is removed from the wall, I would suspect a bad fan relay on the control board of the indoor air handler/furnace.
The above is a guess based on what you have told me. The more information (age, history other issues etc) you provide, the more reliable the answer will be.
