Our 30 year old heat pump konked out and we are replacing it with 3-ton, 13 seer Bryant. To replace the whole system (including inside unit to bring things up to code), the contracter quoted us about 5000. Does that sound reasonable? Should we pay an extra 700 for a variable speed fan (contracter said it would imitate 14 seer and save us $ in the end). We live in fairly moderate climate in NC. Thanks for advice!
