Hello,
I have a Goodman Heatpump. I noticed that the outside unit's Fan is not running. The unit is making a small humming sound all the time. When the thermostat calls for heat, I hear a short sound in the heat pump (outside unit) as if it is trying to turn on and nothing happens on the unit. The inside unit comes on blows cold air. When I touched the top of the outside unit where the fan is attached, it is hot and I get bad smell up close to the fan motor.
Last year in December the thermocouple and the circuit board was replaced for frost problems in the unit and it was working fine until recently. (A few days ago I remember smelling some Bakelite burning kind of bad smell outside, that may have come from this unit, not sure).
What can I do to pinpoint the problem and fix this? Please help.
