Hello everybody!
First, I introduce myself: I'm a novice in furnace.
I live in an two level townhouse. Recently the 33 years old furnace was replaced with an similar unit after startup the surprise was that is coming more noise than with the older one. Is a wind in the intake louver and the doors upstairs are closed by wind when furnace start. The furnace was not my choice is a condominium decision. What I can do to reduce the noise.
The furnace characteristics are: Manufacturer ALLIED AIR ENTREPRISES INC.WEST COLUMBIA, 64HWC244A-1A, H SIDE 300PSIG, L SIDE 150PSIG,INPUT 64000 BTU, OUTPUT 50000 BTU, ORIFICE SIZE 53,
The furnace is located to the same level with first level and is outside in a room at 40 inches distance from the wall the louver opening dimensions are 17"x23" after the wall the duct is suddenly reduced to 24X8 outside with insulation an is connected to the bottom of furnace after 40 inches the discharge is 18x8 and after the wall is increasing to 35x8 and I have 7 outlets three for first level and 4 for 2nd level
the house is concrete structure and this is the reason is only one intake. On the intake duct with the new connection was placed an fresh air intake 8"x8" to increase I don't know what exactly.
The surface is estimated to 1440sqf and based on 8ft height.
Thank you

generally furnaces are noiser than old because of higher speed and larger CFM. your problem is caused by undersized intake plenum. That's why the installer added an extra intake. it seems it's still starved.

Remove the lower door and see whether noise reduced.

I like fixing everything.

I was testing on blower only opening the lower door and was reducing the noise 30%, I don't know which way to go modify the duct intake,
Does exist some solution like silencer or soundproof the furnace room in living room is too much noise.
