the only way i can get the boiler to turn on is by jumping the transformer.

so your acting like the thermostat,connect the stat wires running up to the subbase with the stat off it.jump R to W see if you get the same ON cycle as you did at the furnace TR...if you get it the stat might have to be programmed for the type of heat you have if it is a new electronic one.if you get nothing on the subbase jump,and it is all exsisting stuff then the wire from the boiler up to the stat is open.
It ain't going to get any lighter looking at it!
