We are replacing our 30 year old furnace with a new furnace/heat pump combination.
I have 3 quotes from different companies that range from $9650 (for the Amana brand) to $11,500 & $15,000 for a Trane.
We are nearing retirement and don't plan on being in our "big" house for too many more years. Is the additional cost worthwhile for the Trane brand?
I'd also be interested to hear about any experiences with CR Martin and Canada Furnace, good or bad.

I am in your area, but I do mainly commercial and industrial work these days. I can't comment on the companies you mention, since I have no experience with them. I wish I knew a company I could recommend to you, but none come to mind that stand out!
The pricing you have been quoted seems very high. How complicated is the job? What exactly are they proposing to install? I have priced out a top-of-the-line 98% efficient York furnace, which is easily as good as the Trane, and lets just say my cost is FAR FAR below those quotes!
I know a number of guys in the commercial end of the trade that install domestic furnaces and heat pumps in their spare time. one of them even lives in Maple Ridge. (I only do side jobs for friends and family!) I'm sure they don't charge anywhere near those prices, and they still make a decent profit! If you are interested I may be able to connect you with one of them.
It's only a shock if your not expecting it!
