I currenty have a fuel oil forced air furnace system. The cost of fuel is driving me to look at alternatives. I'm considering an interior wood boiler system. Can I vent this system (I'm told that exhaust temps are less than 300 degrees F) directly into the same flue that my fuel oil furnace uses? My fuel oil furnace would still be used as a backup if we're not around to fill the wood burner.
Thanks so much
Alan

Doesn't sound safe to me. Wood if not burned well can leave creosote on the chimney. I would talk to your insurance company first as they WILL void your coverage if there is ever a fire/ no permits/proper inspections done etc.
