My central heat and air unit causes electrical surges when in use which I am told will burn up the motor. I can't run either due to this. What causes this and how can I fix it?

Hi,
Most electrical load is inductive by nature which causes start up surge. Once it starts running it draws normal rated durrent. So what seems to be your problem? You sounds more like trolling.

when the unit is running it draws a lot of electricity. the meter spins out of control and the utility bill is 4 times the ususal. i was told this would burn the motor up but no one could tell me what was causing the problem. right now i am not using the unit.
