"Thermostat question" , posted Sun 26 Oct 20:20user profileedit/delete messagepost reply

This past July I purchased a new AC and heater.
The units are SA Series 80+ (Nordyne) Gas Furnace
FT5BD Series Heat Pump (Frigidaire)
C6BH-T60C-D indoor coil (Nordyne)
They also installed a BPC-1 Heat Pump Control (Bill Porter) www.theheatpumpmadeeasy.com they did NOT install the BPC-ODS Microstat
A Variable Speed High Efficiency Blower Kit for the gas furnace was also installed.
They also put in a real cheap thermostat.
The AC worked well and the variable speed blower did like it said it would.
I was unhappy with some things they did on the install and they threw in a
TCONT800 Series Touch Screen thermostat. (very nice thermostat by the way)
Now winter is almost here I have switched over to the heat mode and I am not sure things are like I think they should be. The fan will turn on for a few minutes then off then the compressor would turn on and run then the fan would start back up again and heat the house. I switched the thermostat to emergency heat only (gas) and the fan will run but the gas will not turn on until it gets lower than the 3 or 4 degrees like the book says it will if the heat pump can not do the job.
I think they wired it wrong or thermostat is programmed wrong. The wiring is like this.

Thermostat
Y2 No Connection
F No Connection
X2 Black ------------- Compressor E
RC Red ------------- BPC-1 R (To Thermostat)
R Red -------------- BPC-1 R (To Thermostat)
O Orange ----------- BPC-1 O (To Thermostat)
Y Yellow ------------ BCP-1 Y (To Thermostat)
G Green ------------- BCP-1 G (To Thermostat)
B Brown ------------- BCP-1 C (To Thermostat)

Compressor
E Black ----------------- X2 Thermostat
O Orange -------------- BCP-1 O (To Outdoor)
Y Yellow -------------- BCP-1 Y (To Outdoor)
W2 White -------------- BCP-1 W (To Outdoor)
R Red ----------------- BCP-1 R (To Outdoor)
C Brown --------------- BCP-1 B (To Outdoor)

Heater/Blower
Yellow ----------------- BCP-1 Y (To Furnace)
Brown ------------------ BCP-1 C (To Furnace)
Green ------------------- BCP-1 G (To Furnace)
White ------------------- BCP-1 W (To Furnace)
Red --------------------- BCP-1 R (To Furnace)

I would really appreciate any help. I really do not want to call these guys back, for starters it would take weeks for them to come by and I am sure they would say that is the way it has to be.

Thanks for any help.
Doug
