I would appreciate any help with a problem with my Luxaire GM9S-UP furnace (GM9S08OB12UP11A - will try to post pics). This is driving me crazy, and its starting to get cold here in MI.
Since the beginning of heating season this year it has been intermittent starting up when called, and flashes a code "pressure switch stuck open", which prevents the ignitor from lighting and leaves the inducer motor running constantly.
At first it would come on fine about 20% of the time, but more lately it is failing nearly all of the time. I can usually trick it by removing the vacuum line to the combustion box until it lights and then it works fine for that 1 cycle. But sometimes lately I have to remove the vacuum line as well as a yellow cap on the exhaust side of the inducer blower to obtain the correct pressure differential. With that it always starts up.
I noticed a small amount of condensate would come out of the drain line, and have blown that out with compressed air and tested the trap and it seems to be working fine. I've also noticed the inducer motor is getting warm, but don't know if that is normal.
I've checked that the exhaust line is clear and unobstructed, and have removed the intake altogether. I have swapped out the pressure switch for a new one, but that didn't prove to be the problem.
Any ideas?
