I have a York Stellar Plus electric heat pump w/ a York thermostat. I am wanting to replace the thermostat with a new programmable one that I recently purchased. It claims to be compatible with most heat pumps including electric models. However, there is a notation "Not for use with 110/220V systems or multi-stage heat pumps". Is this thermostat compatible with my unit?

110/220vac refers to a line voltage thermostat used on older stack control and hydronic systems and electric furnaces so disregard that warning. You have a low voltage control system the norm 24vac. If you have an electric heat package you need a multi stage tstat and the one you have wont work. The stat must have an eheat or aux terminal the stat will normaly be called a multi stage stat or h.p. stat. Save your money and call a contractor to install a good programable stat the h/o stats are junk and break all the time.
