My condenser unit is making noises. I usually notice them in the middle of the night as they wake me up. If I start my furnace by adjusting the termostat everything is fine. OK, so on to the noises.
After the furnace runs for a while, as it is getting ready to shut off there is a humming noise that comes from the condenser unit for about 2 - 4 minutes. This is followed by a swoosh/whining noise that lasts a few seconds. Then the unit shuts off.
I heard this noise last year, and it turned out that a electrical wire touched to the copper tubing, burned through and leaked all the freon out. I don't see any wires touching copper at this point.
