I replaced my mechanical thermostat with a programable T8611G
all wires were correctly connected but could never get the t8611G to power up.

Upon closer inspection of the wiring diagram that came with the thermostat.it shows th X1 and C terminals connected. But when i check the continity with a volt meter it shows no connection.

Could a jumper have been not installed?
Or am i reading the wiring diagram wrong.Since i originally installed the blue wire connected on X from old mechanical thermostat to X1 on the T8611G and X1 and C not being jumpered together im thinking this is my problem. Here is the wiring diagram http://www.kele.com/olcat/TC11/T8611G-V.PDF scroll to page 23.and let me know what you think?

i have not yet tried hooking the blue wire directly to C

Nothing is blown cause i reconnect the old mechanical unit and everything works correctly.

Just wanted to check on here before i proceed further.
The heating cooling unit is a goodman heat pump.

thanks

Connect blue to C. Do not use X1.

"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.
