I have a Carrier 48GS and it was making a lot of noise while I was out so my wife turned off the breaker, when she turned it back on it was not working. The display LED flashed 6 times, for induced draft motor fault. I have no diagram for this model but I am looking for one.

My question is, is this something I can fix myself, or is this going to require an HVAC trained person to do it? And are there any good sites to find the diagram or repair steps for this type of problem.

Any info will help, thanks!!

Is the induced draft motor (vent motor) running? Is it venting air through the exhaust grill?
The third and fourth digit of your units serial number indicate year.

This is a 1998 48GS diagram, it shows a centrifigal switch to detect induced draft motor operation. If it isn't running, you might check for voltage with heat demand. Could be a loose wire.

I've seen the squirrel cage fall apart on many older induced draft motor assemblies, but that would probably end up a rollout error. (Unless a broken blade is preventing rotation)

If you need the induced draft motor assembly, you will probably need to have it done professionally.
