Hi. I have 2.5 year old Carrier 58STA/STX natural gas furnace. When I turn thermostat on, the furnace runs fine the problem is after set temperature is achieved. The burners turn off and the fan runs the prescribed time. But once the blower goes off, it sounds like something is still tryig to run and there is a rhythmic ticking sound. This goes on until I turn the unit off. I don't know much about furnaces, but it sounds like a struggling motor. Any ideas - it's starting to get cold out!!

I have seen quite a few of them with the inducer fan spinning backwards due to a downdraft in the chimney/negative pressure in the house when the burner is off. Those fans spin very easily. Hard to diagnose sounds over the internet so I would get a tech to check it B4 some expensive $$ damage occurs. Flame sensor needs cleaning EVERY year on those units.
