I have a brand new Armstrong 80K BTU furnace. Model G2D93CT. Power vent with both intake and exhaust going up through roof.
There is a heat sensor, in the bottom of the box/housing that covers the 4 gas burners. This "sensor" has tripped 4 or 5 times.
The housing is very warm if not "hot" to the touch. Installer has been here twice, all systems check ok,,,, perhaps it is the sensor,,, but should that manifold/burner,,, cover or housing,, get so hot ???
My low tech thoughts were there was/is blockage in the intake or exhaust of the power vent. Too much gas pressure,, not enough gas pressure,,, dirty jets/orfices,,, blower/circ fan shutting down too soon,,,, or just a "lemon" On the last visit they put a couple shields under the burners, that are for the 100k BTU,, but according to factory,,,,not needed on the 80K. He even redrilled the manifold mount and moved it 1/8 inch as he thought the flames were not dead center in the openings to heat chamber. ????? What the ??????
The installer said all areas check out, and well within limits,,, and if it keeps doing it,,, they would have to contact Armstrong,,,, ugh !
