York Diamond 90 intermittently blows continuously. It started happening this summer even when the thermostat was turned down to 50 and it was not calling for heat. There is no A/C on this system. I have to power cycle the unit to get it to stop. I had to power the unit off for the summer, but now that heating season is back, it's happening again. I turned the system on for the first time last night before bed. It didn't kick on right away because the wood stove was keeping the house warm. When I awoke during the night I could hear the furnace blowing, but when I checked it was cold air. I power cycled the unit and it went on to heat the house fine for the rest of the night. Any Ideas what may be causing this?

Thanks

I do not know your specfic furnace so you may want to wait for another answer. However, in general, there are two places that a signal for the blower to run comes from. One is the thermostat and the other is the furnace control board. I would turn off the power and disconnect the G wire that comes from the thermostat to the furnace. Disconnect it at the furnace and tape the bare end. Now see if the fan still behaves erradically when you call for heat. If it seems to work fine then the thermostat or the wiring from the thermostat to the furnace may be the problem. If it still misbehaves, then the control board may be the problem.

A little more info.. Last night, the thermostat called for heat and the system operated as normal, then after it reached temperature, it just started blowing cold air. I checked the controller and it was flashing a continuous flashing error code. Manual says this is because flame was sensed when there was no call for heat. What would cause that?

It thinks that the burner is on (flame sensed) and therefore needs to start the fan to blow the heat out. Sounds like your circuit board is failing and giving you a false code etc. Probably best to get a experienced York tech to check it out. Very rare that that code ever occurs unless the gas valve is sticking open and then the house would overheat.
