I have a 6 year old 90% Trane gas furnace that is failing. I searched the internet and all the Trane problems seem to be the same thing -- a vacuum leak that keeps the pressure switch from engaging reliably. After a week of investigating on my own -- with telephone consultation from my installer, and advice from this forum -- and then 2 trips out by the installers, we've decided that the drip tube coming off the secondary heat exchanger has a failed solder joint that is leaking air and water and deteriorating more all the time. Since it's the only problem that Tranes seem to have, it seems like the company would jump on this and fix them for us. As it is, I'm already out $350 on service and unnecessary parts as the problem was misdiagnosed as a faulty switch in the beginning. Anyway, I'll try to contact the company directly and see what they have to say about the situation. One of the technicians gave me a weird look when I told him that all the problems are the same and have all cropped up this year. He said that's what happened when Payne furnaces first started failing some years back. Hello, Trane!
