I have a Trane XE80 furnace that is 13 yrs old. When I turn on the thermostat the furnace kicks on, makes the hissing gas sound, and ignites....most of the time the burners stay on for about 7 secs or so then shut off. It will continue to try and fire up correctly until it locks itself out. I have been told two possible fixes. The 1st is the igniter could be dirty and needs cleaned or replaced. I took it out and used some steel wool on it and no changes. The second option is that is just needs to be cleaned out. Only problem with that is I can't figure out how to get into the blower part to clean it. It sits sideways to the panel. I have read that most are on tracks but mine doesn't appear to be. Please help me in any way possible.

It could be a number of things. But check and make sure you have freh ait coming into the room. It also may be a bad safety switch.
