Problem: Sometimes the heat won't come on when we turn up the thermostat, even if its set 8-10 degrees above room temp. I thought it might be the old thermostat, so I changed it; it still does the same thing. Sometimes it won't come on all night, sometimes it will.
Its a Honeywell thermostat and a Bryant gas furnace.

1 is t-stat wired correctly?
2 is t-stat digital?

Its not digital (neither the new nor the old one).
I assume its wired correctly as I attached wires to the same terminals as in the old one, EXCEPT, there is a fourth wire that I did not attach.
The old t-stat was for heating and cooling, though there is no AC in our apt. It had 4 wires connected.
The new t-stat I bought is only for heat and so only has 3 terminals, so the extra wire (green) is unattached.
However, the problem hasn't changed. Which is leading me to believe the problem isn't the t-stat but something in the furnace. Somebody suggested a limit switch?
