My home warranty service is getting ready to replace my 19 year old HQCO gas furnace Model #NHGE075AF04 or 867.768463 But one tech says it is (or was) 80% efficient furnace while another says it is 90% efficient. It makes a difference since warranty service will only replace not upgrade. which is it? or how can I find out?

Metal vent pipe = 80%
PVC vent pipes = 90%

At 19 years old its probably standing pilot and natural draft... Very few furnaces were 90%EFF exception the pulse, Whisperer?, and the Amana HTM (which believe was in between) Metal pipe 80% 90% pvc (white pipe some areas purple primer). The way to confirm is to look at the stamp plate and look for BTU Input versus output. In example 100,000Btu input, 80,000Btu Output is an 80%EFF furnace at steady state conditions.
