code 31, wow what a joke.... if carrier would tell you that it was the flame sensor to start with , and not a pressure switch,or a roll out switch, ect, thermastat. i spent a few dollars trying to fix this unit myself. until having a beer with a long time friend, told him my problem, he told me to go home find one white wire hooked all by itself to a flame sensor, unscrew one screw pull it out take steel wool, or a fine sand paper clean this 2 1/2 inch by 1/8 rod to take the carbon of it. never had a problem again. code 31, flame sensor, it's by the limit switch

Hi, Things like trouble code on furnaces or DTC(diagnostic trouble code) on cars when CEL(check engine light) light comes on, the code is a starting point for the trouble-shooting at best. It does not mean what it points is a bad component. Here main thing is one has to know how the system works. Like in the case of furnace, the logic sequence of heating cycle. If a car DTC points to a Oxygen sensor it could be it or loose connection to it or bad catalytic coverter or things like that. It does not mean repelacing sensor will solve the problem. It often does tho.
