"Noisy Goodman Furnace" , posted Mon 10 Dec 15:28user profileedit/delete messagepost reply

I recently had a Goodman GCH90703BX furnace installed. From the first day it ran it sounded like a jet airplane taking off. The draft inducer has a very shrill noise coming from it everytime the furncace starts up. I contacted Goodman and their customer service rep said the contractor would have to purchase a new draft inducer and then they would reimburse them. I told them the contractor shouldn't have to pay for this since it was faulty right out of the box. They keep telling me that is their policy and I told them I disagree with their policy. I believe they are like most large corporations they get your money and then go into hiding. If you would like to have a wave file of the sound this furnace makes send me an email and I will forward it to you. If you need the sound of a jet for background in a movie this would be just the thing. This is my first Goodman product and this will be the last. My old furnace was a 30 year old Bryant and it was much quieter then this new Goodman. I'm thinking very seriously of putting it back in. To top it all off last night we had an ice storm and the furnace quit heating in the middle of the night. One of the limit switches kicked out. The big problem was you had to disassemble part of the furnace to get into the switch to reset it. This furnace has got to be one of the poorest designs I've ever seen.
