Our condensing unit makes a loud screeching noise on start up...it lasts for quite a while and then runs smoothly. Our contractor came out several times and said this was normal for piston vs scroll unit. However, he consented to install a "blanket" which was to quiet the unit...only helped a bit. If there is this blanket available, apparently they anticipate noise problems but we were not advised of it. We question if this should make this noise at all...we don't know of anyone else whose unit does this. We're thinking it is an inferior unit.

my units don't screech unless someting is wrong. like over charged or low oil, or .....
I have had a one way check valve squeel it was hard to find, When I replaced it all was OK.

Be good to your fellow man not nice there is a difference.
