Boy, do I feel sorry for you! Same thing happened to me - house built 1908 and the whole bloody thing blew. I'd suggest cutting off the primary water main, bleeding the air out of the system, and - so help you God - getting the thing started again. How many zones do you have? Good idea to turn 'em on one at a time.
As for the soaking, disgusting mess - a decent 40 gal. shop vac should help you. But don't operate any electrical devices w/out being properly grounded. Geez. I learned the hard way. Also, Nature's Miracle (sold at pet stores) might help get the stench out.

If you build a man a fire, you keep him warm for a day. If you set a man on fire, you keep him warm for the rest of his life.:>)

....and if you set the buiding on fire that houses the boiler that blew up, you get a new building with a new boiler.
(that is, if the premiums have been paid and you don't get caught)

If it don't fit force it.

If it breaks it needed to be replaced anyways.
