I am a consumer with a 8 1/2 yr old Lennox heat pump. The unit model # on the furnace section is C26-41-1 and manual says G23 series. We have replaced the blower motor and blower wheel 3 times (twice in one month) and now 2 yrs later the circut board has failed and the gas valve may also be failing. I'm considering replacing the unit, since I'm looking at putting another $1000 buck in it. Any one heard of problems with these, or is this a lemon?

WOULD SUGGEST THAT IF THE ORIGINAL INSTALL COMPANY CANNOT HELP, CONTACT LENNOX AND TELL THEM YOU WANT A FACTORY REP TO VISIT YOUR HOME ALONG WITH A QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSON AND ASK THEM WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO ABOUT YOUR 8 1/2 YEAR OLD SYSTEM? NO MATTER WHAT THE BRAND THESE DAYS, IF IT IS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY OR MAINTAINED CORRECTLY IT WILL ALWAYS GIVE YOU PROBLEMS. AS A HOMEOWNER YOU HAVE MORE PULL WITH THE MFG REPS THAN A CONTRACTOR. IF WE COMPLAIN THEY SAY WE ARE JUST CRYING, BUT IF A HOMEOWNER COMPLAINS THEY HAVE TO FOLLOW-UP, NO ONE CAN AFFORD NEGATIVE PUBLICITY THESE DAYS.WE ARE LENNOX DEALERS AND I HAVE WORKED WITH OUR LOCAL REPS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUES VERY QUICKLY AND TO THE CUSTOMERS SATISFACTION.

the only good thing about lennox...was their old fuel oil furnaces. my opinion is to rip it and replace it with a goodman heat pump. they are easy to work on, simple and have 10 years warranty on parts

it's always something simple!

I would say that you are having some issues with your system and if continued problems exist, I would consider change-out of system.

The comments about Lennox are wild and all systems have problems if not installed properly or serviced regular.
Trane,Lennox,Carrier, Rheem,York all have some issues with different components.

Heat Pumps are just bi-flow air conditioners with the ability to render heat in most cases ..LOL

Get a Trane...LOL
I service all major brands...Lennox is not the worst, in fact they are accually one of the top 5 brands...BUT Lennox engineers work overtime to put more useless crap in their units...they have controls for their controls for their controls....way to many things to go wrong...My company has sold and installed many brands over the years...but Trane has seemed to be the best so far...Just my oppinion

Start with what you know...

york is coming up they stick to basics and improve unlike lennox trying to re-invent the wheel. Plus there heat pumps work with almost any stat as they change there reversing valve with the board now.

seeking.. answers?

From the sounds of things, you have more than 1 issue to deal with, so even replacing the complete system, will not resolve your problems.
Blower failure: it isn't often that a Lennoc motor fails, UNLESS the filters are so dirty that air can't pass through them.Maybe the wrong motot was installed (undersized) or the wrong motor. Lennox uses different rotation motors on their furnaces, so the concept of one motor for all furnaces is WRONG!
Control board failures: yes they do happen. sometimes from having a very dirty cooling coil which may be located above the furnace and the wter overflows down into the control compartment.
Sometimes its because the furnace over heats. You may have poor air circulation (filters) or the venting isn't doing its job properly.
Sometimes, its a Power Quality issue. Low voltage will just do wonders for control board unit mounted Xformer or fuse.
I have many G23 Lennox furnaces installed out herre, some of them 12-15 yrs old, and am just starting to have motor failures, moreso do to the age and not the manufacture.

No matter how idiot proof you make something better idiots will always try and screw around with it!

Check the system design. Posible air flow flaws. Would hate to see you replace unit and have same problems

Don't let the obvious alude you

Regarding the blower motor failures; as others have suggested, voltage and power quality should be checked. As for airflow, the problem may be duct sizing. If the ductwork is oversized, and there is not enough static pressure in the system, the blower may try to move too much air. If the motor/blower wheel match-up is borderline the motor may be running over it's rated Full Load Amps. I have seen this problem before on commercial Lennox heat pumps. You cannot overload a squirrel cage blower by restricting air to the inlet of the blower, but you CAN overload it by giving it too much air to move.

It's only a shock if your not expecting it!
