i have a trane unit twv036b140a1(split unit w/ no heat pump) and it just started blowing cool air one day. I have changed the theromstat and the air seemed to start blowing a little warmer but it still did not fell right, it still felt cool. I called a service guy out and they said they checked everything, and that everything was working ok. I still dont think that it is working properly. He suggested that I change to a heat pump. I was wondering if any one could give me some ideas and things to check before I do this because I know my unit was working fine before.

it is possible for one element to fail. will need to check amp draw. but would advise getting a hvac company to check that. they can get parts from a suplier that you might not be able to get.

how would a homeowner know suction and discharge pressures. didnt know you could get a guage set at homedepot. call that same company and ask to have a senior tech come out. they do have a one year warranty on there work. call and tell them its the same and you still have a problem. we have guys at my company who have been doing this for years and still know jack. call them back. if you called a small company, good luck. but most larger companys will send a senior tech on callbacks.

The air handler you have most likely has 15kw of electric heat.

Need to check the contactor to see if it's pulling in and voltage is being supplied to strips. Maybe a limit is out, check your filter and blower to make sure that they are not stopped up and causing the unit to trip out on limit.

You might have a bad tear drop limit. You also might have a bad sequencer.
