- Can testing cause Freon Leak?

I would find a company to see if the leak is located where it can be repaired. If you trust the same company, use them. It's a definite coincidence but opening things up can move components and cause a leak to happen. However once they remove the refrigerant to repair the leak you will be able to see the leak area itself and determine if it looks like a clean cut (deliberate) or is jagged and the result of poor manufacturing.

Depending on the type of testing done, if gauges are connected to the refrigerant system a small amount of refrigerant can be lost. Once gauges are removed and a functional Schraeder Cap replaced there should not be a continuing leak. If you work with a reputable company have them eventuate your system to make recommendations. It is important to remember that refrigerant leaks must be fixed immediately based on EPA Regulations.
